James Berru


Living in Los Angeles, one of the largest helicopter hubs in the country, James was captivated by the complexity and freedom of helicopters. “Not restricted by runways and airports, helicopters were the only option for me,” he said. Beginning his aviation journey in Long Beach in 2020, James has developed a profound love for both aviation and the city of Los Angeles. He holds a Certified Flight Instructor (CFI) rating in the rotorcraft category. He is currently working on his CFII.

Carlos Sandoval


Having completed all his flight training at SoCal Flying Club, Carlos continues to pursue additional ratings, understanding that a good pilot never stops learning. He attributes much of his success to the exceptional CFIs at SoCal Fying Club who have supported and guided him along the way. He is now paying it forward by helping aspiring pilots achieve their goals and fostering their enthusiasm for aviation. He holds a CFI.

After receiving the Jeppesen Private Pilot Manual on one of her birthdays, Yudan decided to pursue aviation as a career. She is passionate about sharing the joy of flying and ensuring that her students have a great time in the sky while maintaining safety as a top priority. She holds a CFII.

Evan Ojeda


CFI Evan commenced his aviation journey at SoCal Flying Club in 2019, accomplishing all his certificates and ratings at the club. He is also pursuing a degree of Commercial Flight at Mt. San Antonio College and currently holds a CFI.

After working at EVA Air as a flight attendant for four years, CFI Jessica decided to come to the U.S. and pursue her dreams of becoming a pilot. She holds a CFII and MEI.

Michael Marchand


After retiring from working with the LA FSDO, CFI Mike enjoys sharing his love for flying by teaching others to fly. His experience spans decades and he currently holds an ATP rating and is a CFII and MEI.

CFI Devin started flying in 2019 at Brackett Airport after graduating from UCSC. He later completed advanced training at Long Beach Airport and holds a CFII and MEI.

Ted Lumanlan


Ted has spent countless flight hours in the Southern California Basin. He obtained many of his training at our local airports. Besides his passion for flying, Ted exercises his engineering degree during the week for Raytheon. Ted also holds a CFII & MEI certificate.

Alice Tong


Alice is a firm believer of "if you put in the hard work, you can achieve anything you want to do." Prior to her flight training, Alice worked as a flight attendant for Cathay Pacific for 6 years. Now she is passionate about teaching young pilots what she has learned and is a CFII.

CFI Steven started flying in 2011 at Santa Monica Airport and obtained his private pilot license at 17 years old. He completed advanced training at SoCal Flying Club after graduating college from UCLA. He holds a CFII and MEI.
